Aluminum is a well-established material for metal core printed circuit boards (PCB) thanks to its lightness and excellent thermal conductivity. In LED applications it is common to take advantage of its reflectivity as well: a lower number of LEDs can then generate the same light output with lower power consumption and lower heat emission. Focusing on this aspect, Almeco offers vegaLED on Board (VLB) PCB core materials with reflector-grade specular surfaces up to 98% and more and highly reflective PVD coatings, including silver-based coated, specially designed to withstand the working conditions of high-power LED light sources. These advanced materials can help reaching even better performances than using silver-plated copper cores.
